The Philippine Association of Food Technologists, Inc. (PAFT) has been officially approved as the Interim Accredited Integrated Professional Organization (AIPO) for Food Technologists by the Professional Regulatory Board of Food Technology under Resolution No. 02, Series of 2026 .
This approval is anchored on Section 27 of Republic Act No. 11052, or the Philippine Food Technology Act, which provides that all registered Food Technologists shall be integrated into one national organization recognized by the Board and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as the integrated and accredited professional organization of the profession .
With this resolution:
PAFT is formally recognized as the Interim AIPO for Food Technologists.
All duly registered Food Technologists are integrated into one national professional organization, consistent with the law.
Membership in PAFT, as AIPO, does not prevent Food Technologists from joining other professional associations.
The interim accreditation is valid for five (5) years from the date of issuance, subject to compliance with PRC rules and regulations .
The interim accreditation takes effect upon publication of the Resolution in a newspaper of general circulation, after which the corresponding Certificate of Interim Accreditation is issued .
As Interim AIPO, PAFT is mandated to carry out defined roles and responsibilities under PRC Resolution No. 1910 (s. 2024). These include:
Maintaining the required qualifications for accreditation.
Ensuring proper governance and regular elections in accordance with its By-Laws.
Submitting required reports to the PRC.
Maintaining an updated list of members in good standing.
Upholding the integrity, welfare, and advancement of the profession.
The Resolution also clearly outlines the grounds for revocation of accreditation in case of non-compliance . This underscores that accreditation carries both privilege and accountability.
This milestone strengthens the professional structure of Food Technology in the Philippines. It aligns the organization with the regulatory framework of the PRC and reinforces the unity of the profession under one recognized national body.
For PAFT, serving as Interim AIPO is both an honor and a responsibility. It affirms the organization’s longstanding commitment to professional development, ethical practice, continuing professional education, and national engagement in food science and technology.
We thank all members and chapters for their continued support. Together, we will uphold the standards of the profession and work toward a stronger, more unified community of Professional Food Technologists.
